Pour commencer, voici quelques paysages pris lors de la visite en bateau de la baie. Pour info, l’horloge Colgate n’est pas une publicité temporaire, elle existe à cet endroit depuis les années 1980 et fait partie des plus imposantes horloges du monde. Elle témoignait à l’époque du siège de l’entreprise Colgate qui a maintenant déménagé, l’horloge elle, demeure.

To start, here are some landscapes taken during the boat tour of the bay. FYI, the Colgate Clock is not a temporary advertising, it exists at this location since 1980 and is one of the largest clocks in the world. A New York, la présence des défunts est constante, soit dans de jolis cimetières arborés, derrière les églises où des enfants jouent parfois, soit bien évidemment sur le lieu de mémoire de Ground Zero où deux magnifiques chutes d’eaux ont été installées à la place des tours. L’image de l’eau à perte de vue possède une très forte puissance évocatrice, c’est un bel hommage. A coté, la nouvelle tour est en cours de finalisation.
In New York, the presence of the deceased is constant, either in pretty wooded cemeteries behind churches where children may play or obviously on the memorial site of Ground Zero where two magnificent waterfalls were installed to replace the Twin Towers. The image of water out of sight has a strong evocative power, it’s a beautiful tribute. Alongside, the new tower is being finalized.




L’un des endroits shoppings que j’ai préférés à New York est le Chelsea Market dans le Meatpacking District. C’est un marché couvert qui présente de petites épiceries fines, des étals de restauration rapide bio et saine, des boutiques de gourmandises (dont Fat Witch Bakery qui fait des brownies maison à tomber) et un grand local de ventes de designer à prix cassés. Cela s’appelle Privé et chaque semaine, le designer change. Pendant mon séjour par exemple, il y a avait des articles Theysken’s Theory à près de -70%. J’en ai profité pour m’acheter des bottines que vous verrez prochainement sur le blog, et je me suis retenue d’acheter un perfecto en cuir extrêmement beau mais vraiment délicat donc peu pratique.
One of my favorite places for shopping in New York is the Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking District. This is a covered market with small delis, organic and healthy fast food stalls, treats shops (including Fat Witch Bakery which makes brownies to dye for) and a large local for designer sales at bargain prices. This is called Privé and every week, the designer changes. During my stay, for example, there were articles from Theysken’s Theory to nearly 70% rebate. I took the opportunity to buy a pair of boots that you will see soon on the blog, and I hesitated to buy a leather jacket extremely beautiful but very delicate therefore impractical.

Dans la catégorie bizarreries de New York, je peux citer les parkings à empilement, de vrais Tetris ! Ils sont si différents de ceux que l’on voit en France que l’on a de la peine à imaginer comment récupérer la voiture qui est placée complètement au fond !
Sinon, les fameuses fumées de Big Apple, dont il faut se méfier lorsque l’on marche en sandales d’été, une bouche d’égout peut laisser échapper des vapeurs brûlantes sans prévenir…
In the category of odd things in New York, I can cite the stacked car parks which are like real Tetris! They are so different from those we see in France that we find it difficult to imagine how to get the car that is fully placed at the back!
Otherwise, the famous smokes of Big Apple, which you should be wary when walking in summer sandals, a manhole can blurt out burning vapors without warning …
