Cela faisait un bon moment que je n’avais plus mis les pieds au Centre Pompidou, ça a été l’occasion avec l’exposition Paris-Delhi-Bombay.
Avant de commencer la visite, petite grimpette jusqu’au sommet, histoire de surplomber Paris, couvert de petites fourmis et d’immeubles de poupées !
It’s been a while since I had been to the Pompidou Centre, the Paris-Delhi-Bombay exhibition was the opportunity to come back.
Before starting the visit, a small climb to the summit, just to overlook Paris, covered with small ants and doll buildings!



L’exposition pose la question de la situation actuelle de l’Inde, à travers 6 grandes thématiques qui rendent compte des profonds changements d’une société en pleine expansion : la politique, l’urbanisme et l’environnement, la religion, le foyer, l’identité et l’artisanat.
Plus qu’un grand cours d’histoire politique et sociale, l’intérêt de cette exposition réside dans la diversité des points de vue artistiques représentés : 50 artistes, indiens et français, se sont exprimés sur l’une des thématiques. Ils n’hésitent pas à mettre à mal certains tabous, s’exprimer avec force, poésie et conceptualisation.
The exhibition raises the question of the current situation of India, through six major themes that reflect the deep changes of a rapidly expanding society: politics, urban planning and environment, religion, home, identity and crafts.
More than a great political and social history, the interest of this exhibition is the diversity of artistic views represented: 50 artists, Indian and French, expressed themselves on one of the six themes, between underlined taboos, poetry and conceptualization.


Paris – Delhi – Bombay… par centrepompidou
Comme souvent en art contemporain, seule une partie des oeuvres nous parle.
Voici donc quelques oeuvres qui m’ont particulièrement plu.
As often in contemporary art, I’m not found of all. Here are some that I particularly liked.

Dans la thématique religion, l’artiste Riyas Komu a créé une monumentale sculpture en bois de onze paires de jambes de footballeurs supportant un long tuyau ajouré sculpté. Si vous regardez bien, vous verrez peut être au centre de la photo, la petite tête amusée d’un enfant.

In the religion theme, the artist Riyas Komu has created a monumental wooden sculpture of eleven pairs of football player’s legs, supporting a long perforated carved pipe. If you look closely, you might see, in the center of the picture, the little head of an amused child.

Dans la thématique identité, l’artiste Bharti Kher proposait une salle couverte de miroirs brisés, sur lesquels ont été apposés, tels des pansements, les bindis, petites marques rondes que les femmes Hindous portent au dessus des yeux. J’en ai profité pour faire ce petit autoportrait étrange.
In the identity theme, the artist Bharti Kher offered a room covered with broken mirrors, on which were affixed, such as bandages, bindis, smaller round marks that Hindu women wear over the eyes. I took the opportunity to take this little strange self-portrait.

Dans la thématique artisanat, l’artiste Jean Michel Othoniel a imaginé une installation de verre coloré, sonore et visuellement très poétique. Cela ne vous rappellerait pas quelque chose ? Mais oui, c’est bien le même artiste qui a décoré la station de métro parisien Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre, le Kiosque des noctambules, avec toutes ses boules de couleur…

In the craft theme, the artist Jean Michel Othoniel has created an installation of colored glass and sound, very poetic. It’s the same artist who decorated the Paris metro station : Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre, the Kiosk of nightlife, with all the colored balls …
