Après la longue série de photos sur New York (voir ici, ici, ici, ici, ici, ici et encore là et là), passons aux portraits que j’affectionne particulièrement. Photographier l’humain reste l’un de mes attraits premiers, j’aime capter les émotions ou essayer de jolies compositions au niveau du cadrage.
Voici donc des photos que j’ai accumulées depuis quelques temps. Pour une fois, je me suis essayée au traitement en noir et blanc (après prise de vue en couleurs).
Pour la première série avec la belle et espiègle Alice, j’ai choisi ce type de traitement car la lumière artificielle au sein de mon appartement de nuit n’était pas du tout flatteuse. En noir et blanc au contraire, l’œil n’est pas distrait par l’arrière plan et peut se concentrer sur toute la palette d’émotions qu’offrait ce délicieux petit bout de chou.

After the long series of photos of New York (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here again), let’s start with portraits, my favorite subject. Taking pictures of human beings remains one of my first attractions, I love capturing the emotions or try pretty framing compositions.
Here are pictures that I have accumulated for some time. For once, I tried the treatment in black and white (after shooting in color).
For the first series with the beautiful and playful Alice, I chose this type of treatment because the artificial light in my flat at night was not at all flattering. With black and white, the eye is not distracted by the background and can focus on all the emotions offered by this delightful little darling girl.

Pour la seconde série avec le mannequin Leslie, j’ai participé à un cours sur la photo de mode dans Paris façon Helmut Newton, organisé par la Paris Agency School. La photo en noir et blanc était donc induite par le thème de la session.
On s’est retrouvés en petit groupe, juste en dessous du Palais de Tokyo, pour shooter cette jolie jeune femme dans 4 mises en scène orchestrées par l’animateur photographe pro du groupe. Chacun à notre tour, nous devions diriger le mannequin, lui indiquer les poses, etc. Petite précision, nous avons travaillé avec un flash d’extérieur sur batterie pour avoir des conditions de rendu de lumière se rapprochant du studio.
Suite à cette expérience, je peux vous dire que diriger un modèle en photographie est de loin l’exercice le plus difficile que j’aie eu à faire, même en travaillant avec un mannequin ! Saisir des instants, des expressions, se positionner en spectateur de belles choses, c’était mon approche habituelle; lorsque j’ai du prendre les devants, imaginer une histoire, une ambiance, ce n’est pas du tout évident !
For the second series with a model called Leslie, I attended a lesson on fashion photography in Paris like Helmut Newton use to do, organized by the Paris Agency School. The black and white was therefore induced by the theme of the session.
We were a small group and gathered just below the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, to shoot this beautiful young woman in four stagings orchestrated by the host of the group that was a professional protographer. Each in turn, we had to direct the model, indicate the poses, etc.. Clarification : we worked with an external flash plugged on battery so that the light conditions were approaching the studio ones.
Following this experience, I can tell you that directing a photograph model is by far the most difficult exercice I had to do, even when working with a model! Capture moments, expressions, in the position of a spectator of beautiful things, was my usual approach, but when I had to take the lead, create a story, it’s not that easy!
